Imported (adopted) from Korea as a baby to the cornfields of the Midwest, Cassidy MJ Lee is a writer because she was good at English and bad at science. Thrillers, action, and seditious dynamics are her wheelhouse, and she is forever fascinated by aftermath and fallout, social systems, identities, and the construction of assimilation.
Lee is currently a fellow in the 2024-2025 Showrunners’ Mentorship Matters Initiative and the 2024-2025 WIF Fellowship Program. She was a fellow in the 2024 WIF x Black List Episodic Lab, #StartWith8 Career Development Program, and the Athena Film Festival and Lifetime Feature Lab. She previously worked as a staff writer for two seasons of the Korean variety show, Across and Around America.
She has been a youth soccer goalie (made one sick save), a horseback riding instructor (horse girl), a cinematographer (dislocated one rib), a literary fiction editor, and currently day jobs as a CE in TV development. Lee is a snowboarder (with the scars to prove it), and an amateur miniature ceramicist (lives in Los Feliz). She also excels at existential dread and ADHD.
